Initiative Unterbau TU Wien

We are an open list, mainly founded by members of the Initiative Unterbau TU Wien, a grassroots movement since 2022, fighting for your rights.

We are diverse in age, gender, faculties, and academic positions (most of us have fixed-term contracts!), and we are very committed to making TU Wien a better place for all!

Works council 2025-2030

Today (2025-12-01), the new works council 2025-2030 was constituted – Christiane Lechner was voted as 3rd vice-chair (for the moment, since we have to get experience first)

The meeting was mainly used to get to know each other and discuss (many new members), further, we proposed:

  1. improving the communication of the works council to TU Wien employees: we will formulate a proposal of what should be communicated (given that some information is secret by law) and how they will be communicated, and we will see at the next meeting in January whether the works council agrees
  2. survey to get information on how many are currently affected by the chain rule and want to continue with a permanent contract (we have asked the former works council 6 months ago already): we are preparing a draft of the survey to be discussed beginning of next year

Another info: negotiations of the union are taking place today with the goal to facilitate permanent contracts for people funded by third party money – we will inform you of the outcome!
